Rapid Entry Scoring

compRegister's scoring system was developed for Summer Sweat Fest - a regional summer competition series held at multiple climbing gyms. The primary goal for the system is to reduce the time and cost for a gym to host a climbing competition.

Step 1 - Select a Scoring Format

  1. Boulder - Scramble - Top n/all points
  2. Boulder - TOPS / BONUS
  3. Route - Distance (TOP or hold +/-)
  4. Route - Speed

Step 2 - Click Help to view Rapid Entry data input examples

Help Data Entry: points + points + points + ...

Rapid Entry Scoring: Scramble - Top n/all points

Example: Bouldering comp with x number of problems. Each problem scores a different point value based on number of attempts. Competitors (or judges) turn in a scorecard with points circled and witnessed.

Enter points scored by competitor seperated by a plus sign (+) OR enter total score

Valid Examples:

  • 500+400+850+150+300+295
  • 2495
  • 2,495
  • 500 + 400 + 850 + 150 + 300 + 295

If submitting individual points for each route or boulder climbed, total score will be calcuated automatically.

If counting Top n Points only, the top n highest entered values will be used to calculate total score. If counting All Points, all entered values will be used to calculate total score.

Hover mouse over total score to see individual points used to calculate score.

To correct a data entry mistake, click the X beside the total score for the competitor and re-enter points.

Help Data Entry: TOPS + Attempts to Top + BONUS + Attempts to Bonus

Rapid Entry Scoring: TOPS / BONUS

Competitors are ranked based on the number of boulders completed (TOPS). A TOP is awarded if the problem is completed WITHIN THE TIME ALLOTED. Ties are broken by the number of ATTEMPTS to get to each TOP awarded.

Each problem has a BONUS hold between the start and finish. Number of BONUSES earned are used to break ties in TOPS / ATTEMPTS TO TOP. Further ties are broken by the number of ATTEMPTS to each BONUS awarded.

Enter TOPS, Attempts to TOP, BONUS, Attempts to BONUS separated by a plus sign (+)

Valid Examples:

  • 3+7+4+5
  • 3 + 7 + 4 + 5

To correct a data entry mistake, click the X beside the score for the competitor and re-enter data.

Help Data Entry: TOP | Hold # [+/-]

Rapid Entry Scoring: Distance (TOP or hold +/-)

Example: Lead climbing comp with x number of holds on each route. Competitors are scored and ranked based on the distance climbed compared to other competitors.

Enter the distance reached (TOP or hold #) and +/- (if any).

Valid Examples:

  • TOP
  • 10+
  • 9-
  • 15
  • 15 -

To correct a data entry mistake, click the X beside the score for the competitor and re-enter data.

Help Data Entry: time (x.xx) + time (x.xx) ...
